The Gang Exception: Eroding Propensity Rules in Canadian Criminal Law: October 14, 11:30am–1pm 

The uOttawa Public Law Centre is pleased to welcome Professor Reakash Walters for a faculty workshop on evidence law, criminal procedure, and systemic inequality in Canadian criminal law. 

Professor Walters will examine the use of evidence relating to alleged gang affiliation and how exceptions to traditional propensity evidence rules may affect the fairness of criminal trials, with particular attention to racial disparities within criminal legal institutions.
