Official Bilingualism and Canada’s Vice-Regal Offices: SANB v Trudeau and Payette

The uOttawa Public Law Centre and the Research Chair, Linguistic Rights and Issues at the University of Ottawa cohosted a panel on official language rights. Moderated by Professor François Laroque this 90-minute bilingual discussion focused on whether the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms requires the Prime Minister to recommend and the Governor General to appoint persons capable of speaking and understanding both official languages to the office of Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick.
