The 2024 Public Law Conference in Ottawa

The Public Law Conference series is the pre-eminent biennial forum for the discussion of
public law matters in the common law world. On July 2nd-5th 2024, the University of Ottawa will co-host the fifth
instalment of this series for the first time on Canadian soil, marking the Conference’s tenth anniversary.


Conference registration includes all conference sessions, a welcome reception at the Supreme Court of Canada on July 2, coffee/tea breaks and a light lunch on both July 3 and 4. July 5 will be a half day, and includes a morning coffee/tea break.


The conference gala dinner will take place on the evening of July 4 at the Canadian Museum of History, and includes a three-course meal and drinks allowance.*

*The conference gala dinner is not included in the conference registration fee. The gala dinner is an additionnal $199 CAD.

Full Conference + Gala Dinner – Early Career Scholar Speakers ----> $494

  • This option is only for Early Career Scholars who are presenting at the conference. Early Career Scholars are those who were awarded a doctoral degree on or after 1st July 2021 and/or those who were appointed to their first full-time academic position on or after 1st July 2021.

Full Conference + Gala Dinner – Doctoral Student Speakers ----> $199

  • This option is only for doctoral students who are presenting at the conference.

Terms and conditions

  • Registration fees include conference attendance from July 3-5, 2024, as well as a welcome reception as the Supreme Court of Canada on July 2.
  • Your registration is not valid until you have successfully completed the entire process, paid in full, and received a confirmation email.
  • The registration fees do NOT include travel expenses, hotel accommodations or the gala dinner.
  • Online registration closes June 3, 2024 at 5pm EST.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations must be received by email to cdp-plc@uottawa.ca.
  • Cancellations received on or before 3rd March 2024 of registration will incur a 6.6% fee.
  • 25% cancellation fee charged between 4th March 2024 and 31st March 2024.
  • 50% cancellation fee charged between 1st April 2024 and 5th May 2024.
  • 75% cancellation fee charged between 6th May 2024 and 2nd June 2024.
  • 100% cancellation fee charged from 3rd June 2024 onward.
